stayMAD Story There have been lots of entrepreneurial pairs that have been wildly successful making and selling stuff. A couple of guys in Vermont have done pretty well selling ice cream. Two guys (more than 100 years ago) started building and selling motorcycles that people are still crazy about today. (Bet you didn’t know that was two guys and not one.) Along come two friends (Mike Castano and Steve Borseti) born and raised in Everett, MA that share a highly competitive nature when it comes to sports and business. (In fact, these guys could turn a game of backyard bocce into a contact sport.) One day Steve was on one of his “rants” to Mike. He was babbling about people needing to “push themselves to do more and stop making excuses for their shortcomings. They should be tougher, hungrier, more focused in whatever they do.” All of a sudden, out popped the words. “People just need to stay mad”, Steve said. As usual, Mike hadn’t been listening to much of Steve’s ranting, but for some reason he locked in on those two words. Mike contacted Brian Peluso, a big bald former jock from nearby Revere, MA. Brian had become a force in the advertising and design world. Peluso embraced the concept and jumped on board, and you have the creative genius that took the words stayMAD and brought them to life in the line of clothing you see.
